Heritage Chorale Marcie Hartman Scholarship
for 2026

Information on the 2027 scholarship will be posted when it is available.

Heritage Chorale announces the availability of its Marcie Hartman Scholarship for 2026 for a high school sophomore, junior, or senior who currently resides, attends high school, or sings in Oak Park, River Forest, or Forest Park. Second priority extends to students outside this three-village area. Eligible also are home-schooled students beginning at age 15 years, who will be deemed sophomores.

The student selected will sing with Heritage Chorale and then receive an award of $1,500 for further study in the vocal arts. To qualify, the student must be in good academic standing and be recommended by their high school or youth choral director, voice teacher, or other professional musician familiar with the applicant's singing ability. Finalists will audition for Heritage Chorale’s Artistic Director.

Applicants must commit to sing with Heritage Chorale for its spring semester beginning in January 2026 and ending with the spring concert performances on April 11 and 12, 2026. Regular rehearsals are held on Monday evenings. A few supplemental rehearsals may also be scheduled.

Eligible applicants will be assessed on the basis of singing experience and quality, considering information included in the application, the recommendation submitted with the application and each finalist's audition. Consideration will also be given to the balance of the Chorale’s voice parts.

Applications must be submitted by November 30, 2025. Auditions will be individually scheduled with finalists. Final selection will be made before the beginning of Heritage Chorale’s spring semester in January 2026.

The scholarship award will be made after the candidate’s successful completion of the spring semester with Heritage Chorale in April 2026.

The scholarship payment will be made to the student’s selected college, music school, voice teacher, or other institution or individual providing assurance satisfactory to Heritage Chorale that the award will be used for study in the vocal arts.
